Students in Bethel's Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD) Certificate program come from different backgrounds within special education—and they all desire to effectively and compassionately teach those with ASD.
Throughout the 9-month program, now offered fully online, you’ll learn all the aspects of teaching students with ASD:
- Gain background knowledge of ASD.
- Build strategies for developing and administering assessments.
- Learn how to perform interventions and plan programming specific to ASD.
- Develop skills for consulting and collaborating with others.
Plus, with a field experience at the end of the program, you’ll have the chance to put your new skills into practice in a real-world setting.
At Bethel, our expert faculty incorporate faith into the program experience and create the environment to build lasting relationships. They care that you leave prepared and well-equipped to serve your students.
With Minnesota’s changing educational laws in mind, we’ve designed the program to help you prepare for the future. As of January 2013, Minnesota has a new license in the area of Autism Spectrum Disorders. Bethel's ASD program is seeking approval from the Minnesota Board of Teaching during Summer 2013. Current ASD courses will be part of the new ASD License program with the addition of a practicum experience. Official approval by the Minnesota Board of Teaching is required before students can attain the ASD license from Bethel University.
