Emotional/Behavioral Disorders License (EBD)
Bethel’s EBD license program prepares educators to serve students with emotional/behavioral disorders in K-12 settings.
Earning Your EBD License
The Emotional/Behavioral Disorders (EBD) license is for those who have a passion for working with K-12 students who have been identified with emotional and/or behavior disorders from mild, moderate to severe.
Our professors have designed the program to provide you with the instruction needed to earn your K-12, EBD license through the state of Minnesota and work in any EBD setting.
You have the option to earn your stand-alone, K12, EBD license (24-31 credits) or add another special education license to your course load (9-12 credits).
Bethel’s EBD program is pending approval with the Minnesota Board of Teaching. Talk with an admissions advisor about program start dates.
Bethel students have their choice of delivery options:
- Traditional format - Meets for class 1 night a week
- Hybrid format – Blends face-to-face sessions with online instruction
Student Teaching and Field Experience
For all candidates new to special education, the first license requires 10 weeks of student teaching. For all add-on licenses, 7 weeks are required.
All licensure candidates complete 100 hours of classroom experience in assessment, reading, and an inclusive setting before their student teaching assignment. This hands-on learning gives you experience in the special education field before you’re immersed in student teaching.
