Applicants must have successfully completed the following prerequisites from a regionally accredited institution with a grade of B- or higher.

Five of the 8 required prerequisites must be completed at time of application. Any outstanding prerequisites must be completed with transcripts received at Bethel by March 1 in the year of matriculation. 

Score of 4 or 5 on a high school advanced placement exam will be considered for a waiver of the non-science prerequisites only (psychology and statistics). All other required prerequisite courses must be completed at a regionally accredited 2- or 4-year college or university.

*Waiver of the 5-year rule may be granted for these 3 courses for candidates with documented academic excellence and appropriate clinical experience. Human Anatomy, Human Physiology, and Microbiology courses taken 10 years ago or more will not count toward these prerequisites.

Students must complete all required prerequisite courses by March 1 in the year of matriculation, earning a minimum grade of B- in each course. 

Admissions Requirements

Students applying for the PA program must have:

  • A bachelor’s degree from an accredited U.S. higher education institution*
  • 250 hours of documented healthcare-related experience prior to matriculation
  • A minimum GPA of 3.25 or higher overall GPA, and science GPA from previous higher education coursework, as calculated at the time of application. Exceptions to the GPA requirements cannot be made.

Program Start Date

The M.S. in Physician Assistant program begins yearly in June.

Application Deadline

Applications for the June 2016 start must be submitted by August 1, 2015.

All application materials must be submitted to CASPA, and supplemental materials to Bethel admissions on or before August 1, 2015.
